The Ural Republic was established by declaring its independence on 1 July 1991. In 1991, these banknotes were printed as 5,10,20,50,100,500,1000 Francs on watermarked papers by a group of businessmen and politicians under the chairmanship of Antin Bakov. The Ural Republic, which was not recognized as an independent country by Russia, became a part of Russia as a result of the referendum held on 9 November 1993.
